Candace was struggling. She was homeless, struggled with mental health and suicidal thoughts, had 2 children in a family member’s care, and found herself pregnant. She thought to herself, what am I going to do? I don’t want an abortion, but what other options are there?
Thankfully, she booked a pregnancy test at Sierra Pregnancy + Health (SPH). When she arrived, her patient advocate asked her about her life, what she wanted to do, and shared options that were available for her. One of the options they discussed was adoption. Candace didn’t feel she could raise the child because of her current housing and her other children, but what if someone else could?
After her appointment, Candace got in touch with an adoption agency. She met a couple who wanted to adopt her baby! When she came back to SPH for her ultrasound, she had a special request: “could the adoptive parents come, too?”
Of course, our staff said “YES!”
During the ultrasound, the adoptive parents were emotional, excited, and asking lots of questions about the health of the baby. Our staff gave both Candace and the parents bags that included a hand-knitted blanket, diapers, wipes, bottles, parenting resources, and more. They were so excited to begin this journey with this new life.
As a supporter of SPH, you gave Candace the opportunity to learn about adoption and choose life for her baby. You also provided a place for the new adoptive parents to see their new baby and receive parenting resources. Thank you for your faithful support!
